Medhat KhalilChairman & Chief Executive Officer
Medhat Khalil is the Chairman& CEO of Raya Corporation, a leading Information Technology and Telecommunications company in Egypt and the Middle East.
Khalil laid the foundations for Raya’s current significant achievements in 1998 by managing the merge between leading IT and Telecom companies under one big umbrella: Raya. Over these years, he succeeded in increasing company’s revenues from 88 M LE in 1998 to 1,500 M LE in 2005 with human resources exceeding 2100 employees in different areas of specializations. Today, Raya is operating in four main lines of business: Information Technology, Telecommunications, Retail and Distribution and Contact Centers with operations through its branches in Algeria, KSA, and the UAE.
In 1993, Khalil founded Raya Distribution (former Protech), an Egyptian company working on providing Network services, automation, and auto archiving. After becoming Nokia distributor, Raya Distribution opened a new division specialized in the distribution of IT products & Digital equipment. Based on its success in the Egyptian market, Raya Distribution was one of the cornerstones in founding Raya.
As the Managing Director of Oratech since its inception in 1996 until 1998, Khalil succeeded in fostering the company’s growth to enter many Arab markets. Upon the establishment of Raya, 50% of Oratech’ shares was transferred to Raya.
Khalil started his career as Financial Analyst in the Arab Investment Bank. Later, he moved to IBM Egypt and made his way up from Sales Executive in 1979, to Sales Manger until 1990 when he became the Planning Manger of IBM Egypt.

Amr AbdallahCEO – Telecom
Line of Business
Abdallah is currently the CEO of Raya’s rapidly growing Telecom line of business. Abdallah was entrusted with this responsibility after his years of success as Raya's CFO and Board Member: planning and managing all financial matters of Raya Holding and its eleven subsidiaries. Abdallah was also responsible for Raya’s legal, and IT support functions.
Prior to that, Abdallah has been the driving force behind the creation of the distribution line of the business of Raya, one that is remarkably profitable way above the industry standard.
Earlier as the Managing Director of Raya Distribution (Protech), Abdallah reflected the diverse skills it takes to build and run Egypt’s largest mobile phone and IT Distribution retail and service operation, growing the company from 6 persons to an organization with over 230 persons.
Abdallah has been with Protech and Raya since 1996; before that he gained vital IT Sales and Marketing Management experience with Bull Egypt Information Systems.
In addition to being a highly respected entrepreneur, Abdallah has a practical experience in Marketing, Before and After Sales Management, and General Management.
Abdallah has an educational background in Electrical Engineering, and holds an MBA from Aston Business School in Birmingham, UK. Being a scholar of a German school, he maintains a German culture at work coupled with a friendly Egyptian spirit.
Abdallah was born in 1966 in Cairo, Egypt. He is married and has three children. In his spare time he enjoys desert safari, swimming, and fishing trips.
Ashraf SabryVice Chairman and CEO - IT Line of Business
Ashraf Sabry is the Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer- Raya's IT line of business at Raya Holding, as well as a member of Raya's board of directors. His relationship with the companies that eventually became Raya began in 1995, when he moved from market specialist at IBM-WTC to the general manager's position at Protech. When Oratech was founded in 1997, Sabry came on board as the managing director. His diligence and dedication helped make Oratech the most successful and prestigious IT consulting firm in the country. When Oratech was integrated into the newly formed Raya Holding, Sabry was given an instrumental role in the new holding company strategic planning, creating Raya's business development, finance and IT departments. Sabry holds a B.Sc. in civil engineering from Cairo University and a MBA in general management from Leeds University in the UK.
Ayman El BazManaging Director - Raya Distribution
Currently Managing Director of Raya Distribution and earlier the managing director of Raya Networks Services, Ayman El-Baz has been constantly extending Raya's presence in the telecommunications solutions and services sectors. In the '90s, El-Baz helped establish Raya Networks Service as a market leader, expanding the company's knowledge of, and activities in, enterprise data communication. El-Baz's diverse background includes experience in both software and micro-controller based circuit development, as well as successful forays into sales and business development.
Khaled ShashManaging Director - Raya Contact Center
Khaled Shash's background has positioned him for his role as the Managing Director of Raya Contact Center. Since the inception of contact center services in Raya, he has been closely involved in monitoring and directing all operations. Prior to joining Raya Shash had spent over ten years in the research and development management in Giza Systems. Some of the major projects he has participated in and lead during nearly two decades of IT experience include the main billing platform for Egyptian GSM operator Click, the automation of the 1997 Junior World Cup tournament in Egypt, automation of Cairo airport's customs department and the Arabizing of much of DIGITAL's product lines for the Middle Eastern market. Before joining Raya Contact Center, Shash was the general manager for systems engineering and integration at Raya subsidiary Raya Integration.
Magda HabibDirector of Marketing, Corporate Communications, and Investor Relations- Raya Corporation
Magda Habib is the Director of Marketing, Corporate Communications, and Investor Relations of Raya Corporation, a leading Information Technology and Telecommunications company in Egypt and the Middle East.
With 15 years of diverse experience in various managerial disciplines, strong experience in marketing, public relations, corporate communications and investor relations, Habib makes sure that Raya is recognized by various target groups as a leading IT and Telecom company in the Middle East. Habib’s achievement track record in this area includes: creating, developing, measuring and managing the Raya brand to become the most highly regarded local ICT brand in the region in addition to propagating Raya culture among all employees in different subsidiaries and opening communication channels across the corporation. She was in charge of managing all steps to take Raya public on the CASE in 2006 as well as initiating a Corporate Governance initiative within the group.
As the assistant to the Chairman and CEO of Raya since its inception in 1998, Habib, played a key role in managing the merge between companies that formed Raya: a role that allowed her strong exposure to all managerial functions including: Finance, HR, Planning, and Administration.
Prior to the establishment of Raya, Habib was the Finance and Planning Manger of Protech (now Raya Distribution) since its establishment in 1993 until 1998. Habib worked as Programmer in IBM for three years prior to joining Protech.
Habib graduated in 1990 with Bachelor Degree in Science from the American University in Cairo with Major in Computer Science and Minor in Business Administration. She is married with three children.
Mohamed FaresChief Financial Officer (CFO) – Raya Holding
Mohamed Fares currently holds the position of Chief Financial Officer of Raya Group with the responsibility of managing all the financial matters of Raya’s companies in Egypt and abroad.
Fares was chosen for this position after his years of experience as the Managing Director of Raya Telecom and the key person behind its tremendous success since its establishment in 2000. Raya Telecom is now the market leader in corporate telecom services in Egypt; owning a state of the art infrastructure network with around 350 POP and employing over 190 employees.
Prior to carrying out the responsibility of establishing Raya Telecom, Fares headed Triangle Communications and Oratech: two of the companies that merged later to form Raya.
Fares’ extensive diverse experience in the networking and communication industries, acquired via a decade's worth of technical, sales and managerial positions at SITA, NCR and the Triangle Group contributed to his significant achievements with Raya.
Fares obtained two Management Diplomas from Harvard Business Schools and from the American University in Cairo. He graduated from Ain Shams University with a Bachelor degree in Computer and Electrical Engineering.
Fares was born in 1964. He is married and has three children.
Sameh MontasserVice President, Business Development & Quality Assurance
Sameh Montasser currently holds the position of Raya's Vice President, Business Development & Quality Assurance and a board member of Raya. Formally, Montasser was the Vice President of Information Technology Line of Business. A former managing director at systems integration leader Raya Integration and general manager at the information technology division of Raya Distribution, both Raya subsidiaries, Montasser has a wide knowledge of the IT & Telecommunications field, with a specialization in delivering turn-key projects for computer networking and communications solutions. Upon the establishment of Raya Contact Center, Montasser came on board with his outstanding record as the company's managing director until he assumed the responsibility of Vice President- Information technology in July 2004. In 2003, Montasser was the Managing Director of Raya Networks Services. His years as a sales and marketing manager at IBM Egypt have provided him with vital experience in dealing with the government, transportation and academic sectors.
Wael SaidDirector of Human Resources
With some 850 employees, a large organization such as Raya requires a human resources director with the right experience and vision. With an MBA from City University and more than 17 years of experience Wael believes that the HR role is driving the development of Raya people; the real assets and the major competitive advantage. Wael Said has fulfilled that role since January 2000, when he joined Raya after serving as human resources director at ophthalmology giant El-Maghrabi. Said has also managed human resources at Eli-Lilly and Company pharmaceuticals, and has experience in manufacturing operations, which he gained from the various positions he held at the Roussel Uclaf pharmaceutical plant in Egypt.
Ibrahim SarhanManaging Director - Raya E-Finance
Ibrahim Sarhan is currently the Managing Director of Raya E-Finance. Previously, Sarhan held the position of the Director of International Operations, North Africa. In his earlier position as managing director of information technology, and before that Raya Integration's general manager for operations, Sarhan has helped expand Raya Integration's wide customer base in tandem with the rapidly growing business needs of clients in Egypt, the Middle East and Africa. Sarhan's extensive IT experience includes 15 years as sales and marketing manager at ICL, where he gained the solid business and technical background needed to lead Raya Integration to the forefront of the industry, providing infrastructure, professional and post service solutions to a wide variety of clientele
